Hey guess what? It's the final dress of my Sapa Fusion creations!
I actually have a massive orange aversion (it involves my friend's hatred of orange rubbing off on me) but have been trying to embrace it as a color since coming to Vietnam, cos, I really think it's unfair to dislike one color as vehemently as I did.
These pictures were taken near Jingan Temple in Shanghai by my wonderful friend Fei.
Do you like my lucky cats? It says 'Jacqui' in Mandarin, and I checked with Fei that 'Jacqui' doesn't mean 'obscene mushroom' or something too...Or 'bad man', as my name can apparently mean in Yoruba if you mispronounce it...hmmm.
So let's talk this about the back of this dress! You know I like surprises in clothes, and me and Tran (Red Pearl Tailor) liked the idea of a simple front for this frock, and as I turn around, people go, 'whoa!'.
I love the combination of the Sapa material trimmings to make up a complicated cut out design, which, I can still wear a bra with!!
Tricksy designing or what? ;)
It was a fun day hanging out with Fei and catching up on what we had been doing for the past 7 years since we had seen each other. It was also great to have him show me around his city. Isn't the picture of the lions above amazing? Fei told me they are gold coated, cos Jingan Temple is one of the richest in China and have gold to spare. The monks that work there are also, apparently, the best paid monks in China...
I was devising plans while Fei told me all of this to come back to the temple late that night dressed in my cat burglar outfit to scale up to the lions with a cheese grater to get me some gold flakes....
So, with a pretty orange dress that makes it impossible not to smile while wearing it and a good friend showing me the sights of his city, I can sum up my final outfit post from my trip to Shanghai!
